Carrefour × Gannicus96

The objective

Carrefour Romania wanted a sustained presence inside Romanian gaming culture. They did not want a one-off sponsorship logo, but a format that would keep the brand inside the content young audiences actually watch, week after week, for a full two-month campaign window (September 5 – October 29, 2024).

The challenge with long-running branded content is fatigue: the same activation shown eight times stops being content and starts being an ad. The brief demanded a format that stayed fresh across the entire campaign.

The solution

Blocky Studios designed and built a dedicated Minecraft MiniGames server with 16 original game modes, the most ambitious MiniGames build in the studio's history at the time. With a library that large, every one of Gannicus96's livestream sessions could offer his community something they hadn't played before.

The game modes spanned every play style, from competitive and creative to cooperative and pure chaos, so the format could flex to the energy of each stream. Carrefour's brand identity was built into the server environment itself: the world players logged into every week was unmistakably Carrefour's, without a single interruption to gameplay.

The execution

• 16 fully custom MiniGames designed, built, and tested from scratch
• Dedicated branded server with Carrefour visual identity throughout the world and UI
• Weekly content pipeline: new game modes rolled out across the campaign so every livestream had a fresh hook
• Live technical operations during every one of Gannicus96's streams: server management, player queues, and real-time fixes
• Community play: subscribers joined the server and competed alongside the creator, turning viewers into participants

The results

The campaign kept Carrefour inside one of Romania's most-watched gaming channels (1.6M+ subscribers) for two consecutive months. Seven livestreams ran on the server, generating 70K+ views on the replays alone, with the live audience on top. The format proved durable enough that Carrefour renewed for a second season in 2025, and extended the partnership to the Bucharest Gaming Week Main Stage.

That renewal is the metric that matters: the format worked well enough that the client came back for more.
